So I found out today after 9 months of paying for this really expensive formula that my insurance will cover it as a medical benefit (not prescription). My pediatrician had to call into the insurance company and state the medical necessity for it then she had to call Apria Health care to give them the prescription. I will now be getting this formula with no charge, not even a copay. And better yet I will get a case delivered to my door whenever I need it. I just really wanted to share this information because if anyone is using this or knows anyone who does please pass this along. I have Aetna HMO so I think most people will be able to get this covered. I wish I had know about this 9 months since we go through almost three cans a week. Please Please tell everyone you know that uses this formula to call there insurance co and find out if this is a covered benefit. Hope I was able to help some people, especially in this hard economic times.
